Epilogue - Goofy (The Goosey & Live at Mama's)

about

--In another lifetime back in the early 1970s, some friends and I would get together to write and play tunes. Sometimes we performed in public, most memorably in an avant-garde concert called "The Silent Partner Show," which was a book of Gregg Weed's poetry set to music.

Goofy's Lyrics were almost always by Gregg and music was often by me. Here are two short glimpses into that wonderful era when I thought the world had permanently changed for the better in the wake of the flower children's message of peace, love, and happiness. Life was all about writing songs and acting in plays.

Tom Morrison sang and played bass, Dennis Gordon sang and played guitar, I sang and played piano, and for this recording, Gregg played two things: A Sweet Potato Ocarina, and what he called his Octopus Organ. That was a small family-style chord organ amplified via vacuum cleaner hoses he attached to it. For "The Goosey" we also had a guest fiddle player. Wish I could remember her name.

-FINAL WORD-

Music is one of the few constants in my life. Never settling on a particular style (as per this eclectic collection), I've sometimes let myself be influenced at least in part by various pop styles, and sometimes by stage musical styles. But primarily, I've just written whatever made me happy during the period of writing and producing each thing. It's cool when someone hears and likes what I've done.
